About Us

Elberon Zen Circle offers an opportunity for Zen practice to people wishing to integrate the serenity and rigor of traditional Soto Zen meditation into their busy suburban lives.

We study and practice in the tradition and lineage of Shunryu Suzuki-roshi, founder of San Francisco Zen Center. His lecture collections Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind, and Not Always So: Practicing the True Spirit of Zen, are excellent guides to our style of practice.

Elberon Zen Circle provides weekly meditation practice, beginning instruction, classes and discussion groups, as well as referrals to teachers and training opportunities at affiliated centers.

Our resident priest is Zenshin Brian Unger, ordained by Norman Fischer in 2003.
